Jumbo: Install WooCommerce

jumbo uses the popular WooCommerce plugin to provide shop functionality and inventory management. eCommerce functions will not work without it.

There are two ways to install WooCommerce. If you are new to WordPress, use the Automatic Installation. For best results, ensure all other plugins are deactivated prior to setup of Woocommerce and your theme to reduce potential conflicts.

Method #1 : Automatic installation

Automatic installation is the easiest option as WordPress handles the file transfers itself and you don’t even need to leave your web browser.
  1. Login to your WordPress admin panel and go to PluginsAdd New
  2. In the search field type “WooCommerce” and click Search Plugins.
  3. The first plugin listed should be "WooCommerce - excelling eCommerce" by WooThemes. Click the Install Now link.
  4. Click Yes to any confirmation that appears and WordPress will automatically complete the installation.
    • Install may take several minutes depending on your server speed and available memory.
  5. Once activated, you will see a notice across the top of your admin area with a purple button to Install WooCommerce pages automatically
    • If you have already imported our demo content that includes eCommerce content, skip this step!
    • woopages
    • If you have not loaded any demo content, click Install WooCommerce Pages
  6. Return to the Quick Setup overview, or continue to the next article to configure WooCommerce
If you are asked for the FTP details of your web server during the plugin install process, simply fill in your details to complete the installation or see this article

Method #2 Manual installation

The manual installation involves downloading the plugin and uploading it to your webserver via your favourite FTP application.
  1. Download the plugin to your computer and unzip it
  2. Using an FTP program, or your hosting control panel, upload the unzipped plugin folder to your WordPress installation’s wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  3. Activate the plugin from the Plugins menu within the WordPress admin.
  4. Once activated, you will see a notice across the top of your admin area with a purple button to Install WooCommerce pages automatically
    • If you have already imported our demo content that includes eCommerce content, skip this step!
    • woopages
    • If you have not loaded any demo content, click Install WooCommerce Pages
  5. Return to the Quick Setup overview, or continue to the next article to configure WooCommerce
