Carousel: Setup Your Widgets

To access the Widget page, go to Appearance → Widgets

On the right, you will see a number of panels that you can expand:

  • Home Page
  • Sidebar
  • Footer

Each widget area specific to your theme has been color coded to make setup easy. Simply drag the widgets you need into the corresponding panels. At the top of the page you will find a yellow ribbon containing a handy “Click Here” link, which will display the recommended widget setup in case you get lost.

Below is an explanation of each widget and how to configure it.

Home Page Panel

This panel will accept and full-width (orange or blue) widgets.

(Obox)  Slider

  1. Select  what kind of content to Display and click Save
  2. Select a Category or Specific Gallery and click Save
  3. Select the number of slides from the Post Count menu
  4. Enter an Auto Slide Interval (seconds). Set to 0 for no auto-sliding.
  5. Click Save
Large numbers of images in a gallery will cause the Auto-slide to delay.

(Obox) Home Page Posts

This widget displays post thumbnails and excerpts in four columns.

  1. Select whether to display the Category Title above the widget
  2. Select a Posts Category
  3. Select the number of posts to show. For best results, choose multiples of 4
  4. Select whether to display Post Feature Images or Videos in the Thumbnails menu.  For video posts, your featured image will display if Thumbnails is chosen. For video posts without a thumbnail, the video will be shown by default.
  5. Check Show Images if you want your featured thumbnails or videos to display
  6. Check Show Excerpts to display a short excerpt from the post
  7. Enter a Content Length (Character Amount) for your excerpts. A number between 90 and 160 is recommended.
  8. Check Show Post Dates to display the publish date.
  9. Click Save

(Obox) Quotes

Displays a random quote from your Quote posts. There are no settings for this widget.

(Obox) Gallery Category Widget

Displays  thumbnails from the selected gallery along with a title and a custom description. Links to the selected category. This is best used to showcase a specific gallery or when building widgetized pages.

  1. Enter a title
  2. Enter a short description
  3. Select the gallery to display
  4. Click Save

(Obox) Home Page Gallery Widget

Displays the selected number of thumbnails in a four-column layout. Displays either the latest images from the selected gallery or all uploaded.

  1. Select the specific gallery
  2. Select the number of thumbnails
  3. Click Save

(Obox) Home Page Widget

  1. Select a Page with content to display in the first column (or select Hide to not show this column).
    • For best results, use a page with a small amount of text. such as an introduction, etc.
  2. Select a Post Category to display in the second column. The number of posts displayed is controlled by the number you set under Settings → Reading.
  3. Enter a Title for the Twitter block
  4. Enter your Twitter ID without the @
  5. Select the number of Tweets to show
  6. Select whether to display Retweets and/or Replies
  7. Click Save

(Obox) Info Boxes

Displays the last 3 Info Box posts in three columns. Use to outline services, link to promotions or special categories, etc

(Obox) Two Column & Four Column Widget

Displays posts from a selected category in a two-column or four column layout.

  1. Select the number of posts to show. For best results, choose multiples of 2
  2. Select a Post Category
  3. Select whether to display Post Feature Images or Videos in the Thumbnails menu.  For video posts, your featured image will display if Thumbnails is chosen. For video posts without a thumbnail, the video will be shown by default.
  4. Check Show Images/Videos  if you want your featured thumbnails or videos to display
  5. Check Show Excerpts to display a short excerpt from the post
  6. Four-column only: Enter a Content Length (number of characters) if Show Excerpts is checked.
  7. Four-column only: Check Show Post Dates if you want to show dates – disabled by default to conserve space
  8. Click Save

Sidebar & Footer

The sidebar accepts any single-column purple or default gray widgets. Below are details on configuring Obox widgets. For help with default widgets, visit the WordPress Codex

(Obox) Twitter

Display a simple feed of your latest Tweets.

  1. Enter a title such as “Follow Me on Twitter”. This title will link to your profile.
  2. Enter your Twitter ID without the @
  3. Select the number of Tweets to show.
  4. Select whether to display Replies/ Retweets
  5. Click Save

(Obox) Comments

Display the latest comments with a short excerpt and link to the post. This differs from the default WordPress widget in how it displays the information.

(Obox) Popular Posts

Display a list of links to your most popular posts based on the number of comments they have received. This widget draws from regular Posts only.

(Obox) Social Links

Displays icons linking to your social profiles. Enter the full URLs to your social profiles here.  For the email field, enter your email address. For RSS, enter your RSS Feed Url or Feedburner URL.

(Obox) Search

Provides a styled search field.

(Obox) 125 x 125 Adverts

Displays any small adverts added using the Advert Manager

(Obox) Large Adverts

Displays any large adverts added using the Advert Manager

(Obox) Flickr Photos

Displays small thumbnails from your Flickr feed
