Slug is a term used to describe the descriptive part of your WordPress post URL and is visible in the Permalink just below your post title, and also when viewing the post in the browser address bar.
For example, the slug of this post is slug:

Example of a traditional post slug when permalinks are set to post name:

The slug is created automatically when you enter a post title. If you accidentally save the post before the title is finalized, the slug may be stuck as the post ID or may be incomplete. The slug will not change if you edit the title and update the post. To modify the slug, click Edit next to the Permalink under the post title in the editor.
