Permalinks are the permanent URLs to your individual weblog posts, as well as categories and other lists of weblog postings. A permalink is what another weblogger will use to link to your article (or section), or how you might send a link to your story in an e-mail message. The URL to each post should be permanent, and never change — hence permalink.
Obox Themes use custom post types and taxonomies (the categories and tags) that depend on “Pretty” permalinks being enabled to work well. If you are having issues with 404 errors while setting up your content, or any link-related issues, please ensure Permalinks are turned on, or regenerate them:
- Go to →
- Select anything but the default option and click Save. We recommend “Post Name” as it is the most SEO-Friendly
Do this even if you had a non-default option selected. This causes WordPress to regenerate your URLS or Pretty Permalinks, and is required every time you create a new page using a special page template, activate a new theme, or on other rare occasions. Do this anytime you get a 404 error where you know content should be.
