Photogenic: Configure Theme Options

Click on Theme Options in your WordPress admin menu. (If you are already on the Site Layout tab from the previous article, proceed to click on the General Options tab.)

Custom Logo

themeoptions_custom_logo This option allows you to upload a Custom Logo to replace the default theme logo/title text. The dimensions are purely up to you, however it should not exceed 300 pixels wide, or 100 pixels tall. Click on Browse to upload an image file from your hard-drive, or enter the URL of your image file if it is hosted elsewhere.
If you upload a large logo, see this post for adjustments you will need to make.
You can upload as many logos as you like and then simply switch to the one you prefer by clicking on the thumbnail. WordPress accepts .jpg, .png and .gif.

Favicon

themeoptions_favicon This option allows you to upload a favicon, which is the tiny icon displayed in the browser address bar when visitors view your site. The dimensions should be 16 x 16 pixels. Click on Browse to upload an image file from your hard-drive, or enter the URL of your image file if it is hosted elsewhere. You can upload as many logos as you like and then simply switch to the one you prefer by clicking on the thumbnail. For best results, your favicon should be a .gif or 24-bit .png. You should not use a .jpg as it will probably not display.

Custom Login Logo

Click Browse to select a custom login logo, which is displayed on the WordPress admin login page. Recommended dimensions are 326px by 82px themeoptions_login-logo

Facebook Sharing Options

This option allows you to disable the theme's OpenGraph support if you are using a plugin that duplicates the feature and does not allow disabling it. If left on, you may set a default site image for Facebook to use if it cannot find a featured image on the page or post being shared. Your image must be at least 200px by 200px. View this article for more on Facebook OpenGraph and how it works in your theme. themeoptions_facebook

Header

Header Description & Excerpt

Use these settings to add a call-to-action button and text to your home page header.

The Header Title and Excerpt entered here will display on your homepage if a Home Layout is being used.

  1. Enter a Header Title or greeting. This is displayed in large bolded text
  2. Enter a Header Excerpt, if desired. Use this space to add a short introduction to your site, yourself,  or your work.

You must have one of these fields entered for the  header to appear.

Header Background

The header image uploaded to your Header settings will display anywhere a custom header cannot be used or is not set.

On category pages, the header will contain a thumbnail collage of your latest  image uploads by default, or you can use the Collage or Album page template to set a featured image/custom header background. To set a header image, click the link in the option info, or go to Appearance, right-click Header and choose to open in a new tab.

    • Recommended dimensions 1920×380 or at least 1080px wide.
    • This header image will display on all headers where a featured image or post header image is not available.
    • To simply change the background color, but not use an image, use the WordPress Customizer. This is explained in more detail in the Customize Your Theme article.

    Gradient

Select whether or not to apply the fading black gradient overlay on the header. Enabled by default.

    Excerpt display

Choose whether to show or hide post and album excerpts in the header title on interior pages.

    Breadcrumbs

Select Disabled in this menu if you want to hide the breadcrumb links in the post and category headers. Breadcrumbs look like this:

    Hide Obox Logo

All of our themes come with an Obox Logo at the bottom right of the footer. To switch this off, simply uncheck the box (although you get extra awesome points for leaving it on!)

    Site Analytics

If you would like a quick and painless way to implement Google Analytics, paste your preferred tracking code into this text area. Your code will then be inserted into the footer of the theme, which is best for performance reasons. Learn more about Google Analytics here.

If Excerpts are chosen, WordPress will auto-generate a 55 word excerpt from the post content, excluding shortcodes and images, or display your custom Excerpt.

If Full Post Content is selected, you may use the More tag to manually set a cut-off point and full content will be displayed including images or embeds prior to the cut-off. Read More links are not shown when Full Content is enabled!
