WordPress includes support for embedding any content that supports the oEmbed API. For a full list of content types you can use with the embed shortcode, see Embeds « WordPress Codex.

Using the WordPress embed method over the default HTML embed from Twitter will oftentimes lead to cleaner tweets. This can solve any formatting issues resulting from pasting the straight tweet embed code into your post editor.

The Solution

  1. Edit or create your post
  2. Head over to Twitter and hover over the Tweet you want to embed and click Expand, then click Details
  3. The tweet will open in its own page. Copy the URL in the address bar and return to WordPress
  4. Enter the URL using the embed shortcode, like this:
[ embed ][ /embed ]
