GLOSS 2.0 is a major update that overhauls 98% of the theme. If you have customizations outside of the custom.css file, please backup your files. You will need to re-do any template changes to the new version, if necessary.

To Update:

  1. Download a fresh copy of the theme from your Obox Profile
  2. Unzip the file to find the new gloss folder
  3. Connect to your site via FTP and go to wp-content/themes
  4. Rename your existing gloss folder to gloss-backup
  5. Upload the new gloss folder to wp-content/themes/
  6. If you had customizations in the custom.css, you may copy that file into the new theme folder. Do not copy any other modified files from Gloss 1 into the new theme.
  7. Visit your Appearance > Themes page to verify the active theme now says Gloss 2.0.1 or higher, with the updated theme graphic
  8. Go to Plugins > Add New and download/Install the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin, then run it from Tools > Regen Thumbnails
  9. Review the below changes to understand how Theme Options and Widgets have changed. You will need to review your widget setup to configure the new widgets.
